'No escape' from cyber bullying
CYBER-BULLYING follows kids home, leaving those on the receiving end with no place to escape, Education Minister Julia Gillard said yesterday in launching a program to combat the growing social problem.
Ms Gillard said the government would spend $3 million examining the safety of children in e-communications, including cyber-bullying, and study whether existing cyber-safety programs in schools work.
The announcement comes only a few weeks after the death of Geelong schoolgirl Chanelle Rae, 14, whose mother Karen said took her own life after reading something posted about her on the internet.
"There have been some very tragic examples here in Victoria and it's a problem right around the nation," Ms Gillard told ABC's The Insiders program yesterday.
"It's a new problem. Bullying has always been with us in the playground. The thing about cyber-bullying of course is it follows you home.
"So for kids it feels like there's no safe space."
She said two recent government research studies into covert bullying revealed the problem was under-reported. Further, there had been a disturbing increase in incidents of cyber-bullying (threats and intimidation in emails and on social networking sites) in recent times, she said.
Adelaide psychologist Rita Princi said cyber-bullying had become an increasingly prevalent issue in her practice. "I've seen quite a few students recently from all-girl schools. They might have drunk too much and a photo of them might have gone up on the internet. They don't want to go to school," she said.
The government's anti-cyber-bullying pilot, which will roll out in 150 schools across the country, will report its findings by June next year.

Maybe these underage girls would like to follow the law, not consume alcohol, not spread their drunken thighs or flash their tits, and not give everyone and their uncle a place or address to badger them about it.
This is just an excuse to censor the internet by the Australian government again by disregarding personal responsibility for ones own actions, their childrens actions, and the civil liberties of the entire people.
Although who could expect anything less than that from Chairman Rudd.

That report strikes very close to home for me since Geelong is my nearest regional city; I might add also that I believe your post is unsuited to this forum.
That is all.

It's a morons belief you have, in that case.
The shrink admitted that underage school girls are getting drunk and behaving irresponsibly and thus are embarrassed by they outcome of their illegal actions. She and Gillard are actually suggesting in a round about manner that the fault rests with the internet, these girls are victims, and that others are responsible for what they've done to themselves.
Typical Australian fucktardery at it's best.

Re: 'No escape' from cyber bullying
What did I say Siddhis? I said I believe your post, meaning an artical about the cyberbullying and tragic and preventable death of a teenage girl as a direct result of such is unsuited to this forum, meaning that it is in bad taste. You yourself (and 'Splash' aka Iguana Goddess aka Disinfatuation etc. etc. ad nauseum) are nothing more than bigger, older, more dangerous and more treacherous cyberbullies who's irresponsible behaviour on the net (ie: the trolling of individuals and 'raiding' of unrealated sites) and lowly standards serve only to perpetuate and encourage this type of occurance among the young, ergo: you lack empathy, and a board of this nature that prides itself on it's reputation for 'internet terrorism' is not, in my opinion, the place for a discussion of this nature.
And then I said - That is all, meaning - Don't fucking bother mate, which translates to - I shan't be reading nor replying to your response, meaning -
That is all. You got all that lad?

Re: 'No escape' from cyber bullying
So I can't have an opinion about a current event and post it in a current events/political subforum because you want to lump my offline persona together with my online persona in some failed attempt at protecting your fucktarded nation and victim mentality toting culture from criticism?
No can do, dole bludger.

Re: 'No escape' from cyber bullying
You can have an opinion provided your argument is a sympathetic and reasoned one that recognizes the very real dangers presented by cyberbullying or cyberstalking and that you demonstrate your understanding of these by taking into account your own involvement in these activities and giving due consideration to your own contribution to the steadily-growing proliferation of this phenomena where you set an example as leader, role model and peer. Otherwise you can count me out. Your online persona may only be an extension of your real self, but you are wholly responsible for it's behaviour, it's real-life impact and for whatever consequences that result from such.
I thwarted and 'educated' one of your juvenille would-be 'internet terrorists' earlier this morning, and I now have other work to do. Will watch the unfolding of your discussion with interest. That will be all.

Do you mean aside from not sticking to the article subject when stating:

It's just her thing. Subsisting on Maggi 2 minute noodles to finance her dole supported grog habit doesn't lend easily to the nutrition required for objective thinking and discourse.

Re: 'No escape' from cyber bullying
It is nothing more than a knee jerk reaction from a government who comes across as if they were consistent victims of bullying themselves. And lets look at it, we have our PM who got caught eating his own ear wax, well the guy deserves to be torn a new asshole for that, he deserves to be bullied for being so fucking gross. Then we look at the Deputy PM Jullia, She's a fucking wranger, shit, even the pope bullies ginger ninja's. We go back to the last government, Howie, he looked like an Ewok and was a caterpillar farmer, so no reason why he wouldn't get bullied.
Its a trend that's been in the works since Little Johnny got elected all those years ago, its only now that we are starting to see the effects of piss weak, fuckhats, who eat there own ear wax, that have red hair and that look like Ewoks have done to our one proud nation of assholes.
Shit, Bob Hawke would not have stood for any of it... He would have told them to shut the fuck up by the time he finishes his yardy otherwise he'll shatter their fucking whinging lips with it.
Boonie for PM!!!

The funniest term I've heard in a long time... cyberbullying. WTH, unlike in real life if someone is physically pushing you around, just get off the channel.... lol
